ItalyI just visited Norcia and Castelluccio. I couldn’t go to Visso and Ussita, where I once had a house, because the roads are still closed. I know, the people struck by the disaster are willing to work hard to reconstruct what can be reconstructed, but the Italian Government is not only not helpful but hinders people to get their lives together again.

I red that a person was condemned to tear down the wooden hut which he built himself with his own hands to finally have a place to live — and he was condemned because he had no official permission. And who lives in Italy knows perfectly how long these official bureaucratic things take. I have something going on for more than 30 (!!!) years, still unresolved.

And people who just want to come back and live a decent life INSIDE a house and not out in a tent, they are punished for their initiative and their effort. Sorry, this is more than absurd.
